2018 Seniors Championship
Longshore Golf Club, 8/23/2018

The Longshore Club's Men's Senior Championship crowned a new champion Sunday, August 19 when Harry Alexander completed two rounds of 70-73 to win by two strokes over two- time champion Rich Bailey (74-71) and former champion Jon Stephenson (74-76) who took 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Harry hit the shot of the two- day event on the final hole, sitting just to the right of the 18th green in two, but lying on hard pan with an incredibly difficult shot to get up and down. Bad things could have happened, but didn't, as Harry flopped his shot just over the right bunker into the fringe, with the ball rolling to the white pin placement and stopping 12 inches away for a par, and his first club championship. Congratulations, Harry!

The Championship also included a net division which was won by Jake Kelly. Jake had a superb weekend with gross scores of 75-75 resulting in a total net score of 123. Paul Epstein came in second with 135 net and third place went to Joe Bottone with 136 net. Congratulations to Jake who is having a very good year with success in other tournaments.

There was a very good field for this tournament with 29 players of all abilities competing. Thank you all.

Special thanks and gratitude to the Longshore Pros: Jon Janik and Chris Davies. They did a lot of work preparing scorecards, scoresheets and posting scores. We are fortunate to have them helping with our tournaments.
